Properties of our materials

Our workmate Antonio Momblant, from the Quality and Environment Department, tells us about environmental contributions that Liderkit makes to achieve a more sustainable and responsible commitment.

It is a well-known fact that polyester has environmental impact. However, we care about making our product the most sustainable possible, maintaining the quality and resistance, which we are famous for.

One of the most recent certifications obtained in LIDERKIT is related to burning behaviour of our LIDERwood®, LIDERfoam®, LIDERcomb® as well as our POLYESTER sheets.

The ISO 3795:1989 standard on the determination of the combustion of materials used in vehicles, is a technically compatible standard with FMVSS302 (United States), DIN 75200 (Germany), BSAU 169ª (United Kingdom), ST 18-502 (France), SAE J369, ASTM D5132, GM 9070P, GMW 3232 and standards of all vehicle brands.

Results obtained do not exceed 20 mm/min with a moderate emission of white smoke.

Our products pass the specification of Regulation No.118 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), allowing their safe use in metalworking bodies.

Not all panels can eb considered safe or appropriate for food contact.

LIDERKIT has all its panels certified regarding food safety.

The polyester of our panels has values of transfer of compounds of any type of food which are below allowed values.

It has been verified that our panels do not exceed the Overall Migration Limit (OML). This OML indicator is the maximum allowed number of non-volatile substances released from a material or object in food simulants.

Recycled PET GelCoat Resin

LIDERKIT manufactures its own range of smooth, light, resistant, inert, durable and corrosion-free polyester, in personalized colours.

Our polyester sheets are manufactured with a gelcoat finish in different colours reinforced with fiberglass and resin. Moreover, the resin used in produce has been obtained through an innovate process of recycling PET plastic bottles, what shows the company’s deep concern about sustainability.

For every resin drum that is done with PET plastic, 1.800 used plastic bottles are withdrawn from landfills and oceans. This is a contribution towards creating a circular economy where products and materials are recovered and reused at the end of their useful life.

Did you know that, in 2019, this initiative already saved nearly 55 million used plastic bottles throughout Europe?

In this way, we demonstrate that Liderkit cares about the environment, and we keep looking for solutions to achieve a green sector.
