How the global supply chain crisis affects Liderkit?

We have been talking to our colleague Antonio Rubio, Purchase Manager, about the current supply-chain crisis, affecting a large number of companies throughout the world. In addition, we also get into the role and contribution of Liderkit to environmental protection.

« Thanks to anticipation policies and collaboration between the different production sections, we can say that Liderkit is not getting affected by the supply-chain crisis ».

Currently, many companies are suffering a serious crisis in the supply chain. How is all this situation affecting bodies’ production in Liderkit?

In order to fight this situation of shortage, some strategic measures were taken already in 2020 by the Managing direction and the different sections’ chiefs.

The latest quarterly report from the Bank of Spain, based on the surveys held by the European Commission, shows that  22% of Spanish manufacturing companies were forced to reduce their offer in July because of the lack of supplies —material or equipment—, while the number of companies with their production affected in some way scaled up to 37%.

In fact, the Bank of Spain warns about bottlenecks in raw materials and intermediate equipment which are seriously threatening economic recovery, making it more slowly than forecasted.

Liderkit has not been oblivious to this problem in supply and sudden price rises of materials; and, in order to fight this situation of shortage, some strategic measures were taken already in 2020 by the Managing direction and the different sections’ chiefs.  These decisions were taken based on some previous market research and different surveys made among customers and suppliers.

The main tool chosen by Liderkit was anticipation in decision making, on the grounds of previous market research.

Thanks to this anticipation policies, and collaboration between the different production sections, we can say that Liderkit is not getting affected by the supply-chain crisis.

How is the company overcoming this worrying situation?

As explained in previous lines, the main tool chosen by Liderkit was anticipation in decision making, on the grounds of previous market research and data from surveys carried out among customers and suppliers.

But the key aspect was believing in our potential and possibilities from all the areas integrating the production process.

If shortage continues and supply times keep lengthening, stockout is a real possibility for some specific materials.

With this purpose, and once the Plan was stablished, Liderkit developed the following programme:

  • Estrategy N.° 1: Stock provision and capacity
  • Estrategy N.° 2: Diversifying supply sources
  • Estrategy N.° 3: Multiplying purchase and contracting
  • Estrategy N.° 4: Reducing geographic dependence in international network
  • Estrategy N.° 5: Digitalization

Due to current raw materials crisis, could Liderkit stop manufacturing any product of its portfolio?

Today, Liderkit has enough materials and resources for keeping offering the full range of its catalogue for all the markets. However, if shortage continues and supply times keep lengthening, stockout is a real possibility for some specific materials. We are working hard to prevent this though.

Today, Liderkit has enough materials and resources for keeping offering the full range of its catalogue for all the markets
